Training begins with the 12-week on-line component.  Lessons will be released once a week and will include a weekly zoom call with us to go over the material.

This is followed by the Embodiment Intensive in San Diego, CA.

After the intensive, students will then have 3 months in which to perform 20 hours of session work and submit documentation for staff review.

MODULE ONE – ONLINE GROUP STUDY

During 12 weeks of home study, students learn one module per week as indicated in the syllabus. We will be diving deep into each of the core teachings of Somatics and The Hudson Method. Students will be required to have friends or clients that they can practice their learnings with.

In addition to the personal study practice, there are weekly Zoom calls with Jonathan and Heike to cover the week’s material, answer questions, and engage with other students.  There is also a private Facebook group to share, ask questions, read, and comment on each other’s experiences.

The course material on the Thinkific platform directs practice sessions, course readings and video viewing. Students will need to allocate several hours a week for the 12 week home study. This time is spent on studing videos and texts, practice of the elements learned, and submitted homework. Students who have not completed the home study requirements cannot attend module two, the Embodiment Intensive.

MODULE TWO – EMBODIMENT INTENSIVE

After 12 weeks of group online learning, students and faculty come together in person to connect and practice communally. The 7 days of the Embodiment Intensive include a great deal of session work in which students will be both giving and receiving sessions, coaching, energy work, and other modalities to embody the practices deep into their being.

The following modalities are emphasized during the Embodiment Intensive:

Somatic Coaching Elements
Practice, witness, and experience everything that goes into learning about your client at their sessions, prior to their sessions, and after their sessions. Understand body language to be able to peer into what is not being said and how the body will non-verbally guide you for your sessions.

Somatic Bodywork
A great deal of time will be spent at the Embodiment Intensive doing hands-on work. Students will both be giving and receiving somatic sessions with each other and with faculty. This acts as the primary “embodiment” of the training because we believe that in order to fully understand the work, you must first do the work on yourselves.

Energy and Spiritual Dynamics
Focus will be on fully understanding the energetic systems of the human body and how they can be cleared and harmonized. Learn how to self-protect and deal with darker energies and “energy hitchhikers”. Special emphasis will also be placed on the spiritual or “magical” part of the work and how that applies not just to sessions, but to each student’s life.

Movement and Emotional Release Tools
Students will use the different tools for spontaneous somatic emotional release used by The Hudson Institute by doing them throughout the intensive. From pillow pounding, to body shaking, to primal screams, students will learn how breath, sound, and movement are the fundamentals of moving emotions so they don’t stay stuck in the body.

Trauma Resolution
Students will be more than “trauma informed”, they will learn and understand how trauma is stored in the body, and how it can be resolved relatively quickly by reintroducing fight or flight response, and doing something about it, which is what makes The Hudson Method so unique. In addition, students will develop the understanding of when this work is for a client, and more importantly, when not, including many contradictions to a client’s ability to do somatic work.

Ethics and Integrity
A highly ethical practice is the bedrock to a successful business in somatic bodywork. Students will learn about the standards of ethical practice, especially when it comes to personal interaction with clients. Learning about boundaries and consent, in addition to the limits of our personal and professional capabilities, is essential to safe and effective practice.

Business Fundamentals
Students will learn about bundling their sessions into programs which will significantly increase their income stream. Also know how to market and attract clients. They will also learn about insurance, legalities, and proper ways to structure legally binding contracts.

Connection and Fun!
There will be plenty of time for group connection, dance, shares, and a whole lot of love!

MODULE THREE – SUPERVISED PRACTICE

After the Intensive, students must complete twenty sessions of Somatic Bodywork with individuals for certification. Students also can get credits for teaching what they have learned to others in workshops and other group events. Students submit reports on their sessions to the facilitators and post a summary of their learning online for instructors to read and review.

Students will have a strict time period of three months in which to complete the required twenty hours of sessions.

CERTIFICATION

Upon satisfactory completion of requirements for all three modules, and approval by The Hudson Institute, students will be awarded the Certificate as a Somatic Practitioner of The Hudson Method.
